Building a better Paper Towel Holder

In our kitchen, we had one of those super cheap paper towel holders. Its made of thin, flimsy plastic and I recently broke it. Good riddance to that thing but now I need something to replace it. I’ve been putting this off because I haven’t quite settled on a design I really liked. Well, now I think I have it figured out and its time to get my roll of paper towels hung back up.

The design I decided on, uses a keyhole shaped slot on each side of the holder. This keyhole shape lets a dowel drop down into place with the weight of the paper towel roll. 2 wooden discs on either end of the dowel keep it from shifting left to right. When you need to change out the roll, you just lift the dowel up into the larger keyhole section and slide out the dowel. Its a pretty secure system that allows for easy removal of the towels. I’m happy with this design and am glad to have my paper towels hung back up where they should be.

Check out the video of the build below. This was a fun project that you should be able to knock out in an afternoon. Thanks for stopping by.
