Building a Binding Tower for cutting Binding Channels on a Guitar

I’m at the point in the acoustic guitar build where I need to install the binding. Before that can happen, I need a jig that holds the router at 90 degrees to the sides. Since the top and back are radiused, I’m not able to just run the router around the top. This would result in a binding channel that isnt square to the sides. I decided to build my own version of a binding tower.

There are several versions of this jig out on the market. They each are styled a little differently and some have more features than the others. I researched several of those and decided on a few features that I’d like to incorporate into mine. I’m not going to go through the whole build process in this text, thats what the video is for. You’ll find that below.

There’s one thing I’d like to reiterate from the video. This jig I have made is prototype version. As I use it, I will be making updates and changes. Once I have any changes made, I do plan to release a package on the website with drawings, part numbers, and about everything you need to build you own binding tower like this. I will be sure to make an announcement when I have that completed. I may even build a small batch of these and sell a few completed units. If that is something you might be interested, please let me know.

Have a great day, and thanks for stopping by.
