Making a Couch Side Table from Trash | Saved From the Dumpster

Trash is everywhere. I believe we can all agree on that. We throw out so much stuff over time, but in many cases, the items we discard can be repurposed into new and useful things. Thats the idea for this project.

A friend of mine recently gave me some random pieces of flat pack furniture that was bound for the dump. Since these pieces were made of solid wood, I decided to see if I can make something useful with it. I decided to make a small couch table that slides under the front of a couch or chair, and lets you place items within reach.

I needed to do a bit of figuring to determine how this table would go together, and due to the size, I made many of the cuts with a hand saw. The whole piece is held together with solid wood dowels. It turned out pretty good and is quite sturdy.

Now this project isn’t exactly a “how-to” style build. My idea is to hopefully inspire you to find some things around your area that you can repurpose into something useful for your family. None of us are going to find the exact same things, so a step by step process won’t work for everyone. I do hope though, that this project will get your creative juices flowing and you too will find some cool “trash” that you can repurpose for your home.
