How to Make a Serving Board | Bring on the Meat and Cheese!

Do you need a last minute gift idea for the Holidays? A serving board, or Charcuterie Board is a fun project and a great gift idea as well.

A serving board is really not much more than a piece of wood used to serve up some tasty treats. Its super easy to make. I chose a piece of Elm that I milled up a couple years ago. It has some cracks that I filled with some colored epoxy to both stabilize the cracks and provide an accent color. Then I drew out a shape, cut it out on the bandsaw and sanded it smooth. I applied a simple finish of mineral oil and just like that, the board is done.

There are probably thousands of different designs out there for a project like this. There really is no right or wrong as far as the design goes. Get creative and have fun with it. These are easy to batch out and make great gifts. They also look good at you next family gathering too.
