Chainsaw Milling a Big Figured Log | This is too cool!

I recently had the opportunity to get some reclaimed barn beams and materials from an old building located near me. While picking up those materials, there was this large log that the owner wanted to get out of there. When I walked by it, I could see the figure on the outside and knew that I needed to get it. The outside was really cracked from sitting outside in the field for who knows how many years but I didn’t care about that. It was just too cool.

For this project, I decided to just have some fun. I’m going to use my chainsaw mill to make a few cuts into this beautiful log to see what lies inside. My cutting was interrupted by a nail inside the log and by the fact that I maxed out my mill. The log was just a little bit too wide for my saw. While I get the chain sharpened back up, I’ll be thinking about how I want to proceed with this.

Check out the video below and see how cool this old log really is. Thanks for stopping by.
