Building a Bass Guitar Part 1 | Building the Body

Its time to begin a new guitar build. This time its a bass guitar. This build is a commission and not entirely my own original design. That doesn’t mean its not going to be awesome though.

This is the first episode of several that I’ll be doing for this build. We’re starting today with making the body. It will be made from mahogany, with a book matched quilted maple top. Several people have asked where I get templates from. I’m using a template set that I got from Mike at Potvin Guitars. I have no affiliation with Potvin Guitars what so ever, but Mike makes great templates and is my go to source for custom templates. Check out his website HERE is you’re looking for guitar templates.

I am super excited to see this guitar start to come to life. There’s still a long way to go but the body is roughed out and now we need a neck. That will be episode 2. If you want to follow along with this build, be sure to subscribe to my YouTube Channel and enable notifications as I’ll be releasing several episodes on this build. Thanks for stopping by.
