DIY Headlight Restoration | Polishing Faded Headlight Lenses

Are the headlights on your vehicle looking faded and hazed over? Mine are, so I decided to try restoring them myself using tools and materials I had on hand.

Ive seen many different methods used to restore hazy headlight lenses, but I’ve never tried any of them myself. I decided to use my current setup for buffing guitar bodies, and see how that works on headlights. It turns out that it works pretty good. The lights I’m polishing in this video were in pretty bad shape. There was a lot of pitting and cracks in the lenses, but just polishing them out, made a pretty big difference.

Don’t be afraid to try polishing your own lenses. This is definitely a process you can do at home. There are some kits available so you can do this with your cordless drill.

Check out the video below to see how I polished out my headlight lenses using a cordless polisher and the Perfect-It system made by 3M.
