Small Shop Assembly Table

Well, Its time to replace the crusty piece of MDF I’ve been using as a worksurface. Its getting pretty beat up and I wanted to make something a little bit nicer.
I have some 3/4″ plywood offcute on hand that I’m going to use. I laminated 2 pieces of it together to make a 1 1/2″ thick piece. Then using the sweet Ridgid cordless router, I routed a couple 3/4″ dadoes to accept some T Tracks. I thought the T Tracks would make it a little more versatile for certain projects. With the slots routed out, I then cut some miters on some maple strips and wrapped the edged in the maple. This gives it a more finished look and protects the edges of the plywood. I finished the piece with Boiled Linseed Oil. Once it had dried, I installed the T Track and the top is complete.
I’m impressed with how it came out. Its almost dead flat and will make a great assembly table. Eventually, I hope to get into a larger shop and this will be turned into a stand alone table. For now, it will sit on top of my table saw. Check out the build video below.
