Making a Canoe Paddle from scratch

Todays project was inspired by some recent rains we had in my area. It washed out a little bridge we have at the pond near out home. After discovering the bridge was floating around the pond like a raft, we decided to make a canoe paddle we could use with the “raft” to float around the pond.

I used a piece of Silver Maple I cut from a slab to make the paddle. I didn’t have any specific plans for this paddle, but I did find a few basic dimensions online that I used as a reference. This was a fun project and the finished paddle turned out great. My Daughter and I had a lot of fun playing around on the pond. I could not have asked for anything better.

Check out the fun we had and the paddle build in the video below.
