Completing my Acoustic Guitar | This Project is Done!

In this episode, I’m hoping to complete this acoustic guitar build. Overall, this build is almost done, but in reality, there are still several things that need to be done.

First off, I need to level the fingerboard and install the frets. I’m using a 14″ radius for the fretboard. After sanding it to that radius, I deepened the fret slots and installed the frets. I then headed over to the Zimbelman Guitars shop to ream the bridge pins to a 5 degree taper. This is the taper of my chosen bridge pins. From there I started in on making the saddle and nut. I’m using bone for both the saddle and nut. I had to trim the saddle to length and round the corners so it would fit the slot in the bridge. Then I got to work on the nut. After some fret leveling I could finally begin stringing it up.

The sound of this guitar is amazing. It is unlike any other guitar I personally have played. There’s so much clarity in the notes. I can’t believe how well it plays and sounds. I’m so happy with this guitar. This has been a work in progress for the last 11 months and I’m very glad to have it done. I can’t wait to start on acoustic guitar #2. I need to make a few more jigs first though.

Check out the final completion in the video below. Thanks for stopping by.
