Building my new Video Editing PC

Its finally time to replace my old editing computer. Its been a great machine but lately its been slowing down a lot and even blacked out a time or two during an editing session. Its time for an upgrade.

I have assembled several computers before so I was pretty confident going into this build. I took my time picking out all the parts. I wanted to make sure I got what I wanted while still getting the best bang for my buck. Don’t be afraid to shop around. Once you know what parts you want, then you can begin searching for the best price. I like to use Newegg to assemble a wish list of the parts I’ve chosen. This gets them all on one page. Then I can start price shopping from here.

Once all the parts come in, Its really just a matter of putting everything together. Take your time and understand what needs to go where. Some parts need to go in before others so if you haven’t done this before, plan on taking some things back out once or twice. Its no big deal though. After you get things together, then Its time to wire it up. This can take a while, especially if you’re tying to keep the wires neat (which I would recommend).

The most satisfying part is finally hitting the power button and seeing everything light up and come to life. Once its alive then you just need to install you Operating System of choice and installing all of your programs and software.

If you’ve ever considered building your own computer, I highly recommend it. Its not all that hard and its a fun process. You really get to learn a lot about computers during the build. Don’t be afraid to try it. You won’t be disappointed.
