Fixed: Leaking Propane O Ring

There’s nothing worse than trying to fire up your BBQ Grill only to fin that all of your propane has leaked out. Or in my case, trying to run the heater on a chilly morning only to smell the strong smell of raw unburned propane.

A leaking propane cylinder can be a lot more than an inconvenience, it can be quite dangerous in the right situation. If you suspect you have a leaking fitting, you need to take care of that right away.

Replacing a deteriorated o ring is a simple process. All you need to do is get the replacement o ring. I went to my local hardware store and with the help of a clerk, we found the o ring I needed was a #110. Using a small sharp pick, I was able to get under the bad ring and pop it out of its groove. Then just roll the new one in place. Now I can reconnect the fitting and check for leaks. I used a spray bottle with soapy water in it to spray all over the fitting. If you don’t see any bubbles coming out, you know there is no leak. I highly recommend doing this step. If its still leaking, you need to know.

Thats all there is to it. There’s no reason to put up with a leaking Propane O Ring. Check out the video below.
